Presentation QA Mascots 007: Read-First Review of 5 Records

Maintenance ID: 0.1.00177.mascots-007 Date: 2026-10-08 Scope: content/mascots/ — the 5 records assigned by workload issue #734 (020.maila-delayden, 021.markie-d-down, 023.modrewrite-gremblin, 024.moveda-permanently, 025.ami-ghostbyte)

What changed

  • Read all 5 assigned records in full, frontmatter through final line, including stat blocks, addendum appendices, aphorism runs, and both verse conventions (hard-break "Log" sections and unbroken card-section verse).
  • 023.modrewrite-gremblin.md: inserted four blank lines, nothing else.
    • **Known Haunts:** was a lazy continuation of the biography paragraph, and **Ceremonial Limitations:** was swallowed into the last bullet of the haunts list, merging two labeled groups into one six-item list. Both labels now stand alone and each list is its own list.
    • The closing paragraph "Known to self-replicate via multi-directory .htaccess recursion…" (and the _Ceremonial classification_ line running with it) was swallowed into the last bullet of the Behavior Patterns list. Now a paragraph again.
  • No emphasis was added anywhere. A corpus survey of mascot biography sections found no inline-bold convention to justify a pivot.

Snapshot disclosure

  • All 5 assigned files are byte-identical to snapshot 8997eebe (git diff 8997eebe..HEAD empty for each; line counts match the issue table). No intervening diffs to disclose.

What was deliberately left alone

  • All frontmatter, canonical IDs, titles, tags, relations, headings, anchors, code spans, lists' text, verse bodies, and two-space hard breaks. The diff is blank lines only.
  • 021.markie-d-down.md line 97: *Kindy:_ renders literally (mixed delimiters; the adjacent _Bricky:_ is valid emphasis). Corpus-unique — no other *X:_/_X:* label exists in content/. Possibly an in-joke in a record whose own limerick celebrates "a dangling bold"; possibly transcription residue in a duplicated Addendum Comments section. Existing markup is protected; flagged needs decision on #734.
  • 023.modrewrite-gremblin.md lines 52–61: the 📜 Limerick Log card section runs two limerick stanzas together with no hard breaks, rendering as one wrapped paragraph. Same pattern appears in ~10 mascot records' emoji-titled card sections (003, 048, 056, 211, 325, 403, 433, 434, 435) — a corpus-wide dual convention, not a per-record slip. Verse line structure is frozen under #824; flagged needs decision on #734, not normalized.
  • 024.moveda-permanently.md lines 165–233: nine limerick stanzas saturated with ingest-era bold/italic (~90 spans), followed by seven plain stanzas. Same call as lim-moveda-permanently.md under 0.1.00134.limericks-026: flagged needs decision, no rebalancing.
  • 020.maila-delayden.md line 22 and 024.moveda-permanently.md line 85: lone bullets after prose paragraphs (Priority Flag, Previous Locations) — shared residue pattern, renders fine, preserved.
  • 020/023's empty Bricky's Filing Notes/Kindy's Recursion Echo subsections, 021's D&D stat block, 021's break-less 🧾 Haiku Records haiku (the dominant convention for that section, 6 of 7 surveyed), 024's terminal ---, and 025's stat-block-free layout: all convention variants or residue, untouched.

Verification performed

  • BORIS_BIN=/Users/tbuddy/dev/filed.fyi/bin/boris ./bin/validate_graph.sh — passed: Boris graph diagnostics, verse residue check, HTML ID audit, Filed certification, and full Cantilever compile, exit 0.
  • Compiled article inspection: dist/cantilever/mascots/M-0023.html now renders **Known Haunts:** and **Ceremonial Limitations:** as standalone <p><strong> labels each followed by its own <ul>, and the self-replication sentence as a <p> outside the Behavior Patterns list. dist/cantilever/mascots/M-0021.html confirms *Kindy:_ renders literally — the flag is on a real defect, left as found.
  • git diff on the edited record shows blank-line insertions only; no word, order, emphasis, or markup changes. All trailing-space hard breaks byte-preserved.
  • python3 scripts/check_collection_counts.py — PASS after adding this docket and recounting the changelog trunk Count: and README totals to actual.

Unresolved follow-up

  • Three needs decision items posted on #734: the *Kindy:_ delimiter in 021, the run-on card-section limerick in 023, and the emphasis-dense limerick block in 024. The issue stays open until the maintainer resolves or explicitly waives them.
