Presentation QA Mascots 026: Read-First Review of 8 Records

Maintenance ID: 0.1.00196.mascots-026 Date: 2026-10-08 Scope: content/mascots/ — the 8 records assigned by workload issue #753 (264.corridor-heat.md, 265.provisional-mint.md, 266.warm-hold-music.md, 267.relief-watermark.md, 268.appeal-feather.md, 269.policy-afterglow.md, 270.buffer-saint.md, 271.alibi-seal.md)

What changed

  • Read all 8 assigned records in full, frontmatter through final limerick line. No file changed since snapshot 8997eebe (git diff against origin/main empty); line counts matched the assignment table (1,563 total).
  • 267.relief-watermark.md line 15: italicized the counterparty *Doge Stamp*. The sentence — "Crucially, it is the antithesis of the Doge Stamp: where the stamp obliterates context…" — is the record's pivot and uses the identical construction sibling 272.shorthand-reliquary.md marks with an italic counterparty ("Crucially, it is not a Corrupted Log—…"). Asterisks only.
  • 271.alibi-seal.md line 13: bolded "already innocent" — the record's definitional pivot; the mascot exists solely for pre-emptive exoneration. Asterisks only.
  • The remaining 6 records were reviewed unchanged; each already carries emphasis (**Distinction:**-style labels, a bold counterparty, or first-mention bold) or reads level plain.

What was deliberately left alone

  • All frontmatter, canonical IDs, tags, titles, anchors ({#...}), headings, quoted/documentary material, and every existing emphasis marker.
  • 264 and 270's **Failure Signature & Function:**/**Function:**-style labels are blank-line-separated paragraphs, not run-on stat blocks; no repair needed.
  • The ## Haiku Log → ### {title} → ## Haikus heading triple and the two-line soft-break couplets (267 lines 17–18, 269 lines 16–17) recur across neighboring mascots 263/272/273 — collection convention, preserved.
  • All verse regions carry two-space hard breaks on every non-final stanza line (verified per file); the flat limerick batches' no-break-on-final-line convention matches the post-#824 contract. No verse line touched.
  • Cross-record limerick duplication — the "blame it on somebody's cat" closer shared by 264/268/270, the "vacuum is perfectly full" line shared by 265/268, "We stamp it approved / The data removed" shared by 267/268 — is intentional residue, not deduplicated.
  • Single trailing spaces in prose (267 line 13, 270 lines 13/15) are inert residue; no whitespace cleaning performed.
  • 268's haiku batch mixes punctuated and unpunctuated stanzas, and its limerick log spans three stylistic batches; voice residue, left as authored.

Verification performed

  • python3 read-only trailing-whitespace scan across all 8 files; every verse stanza checked for two-space hard breaks on non-final lines.
  • git diff 8997eebe..origin/main on the 8 assigned paths: empty — no intervening change to reread or disclose.
  • git diff review after edits: */** markers only; both changed lines word-identical after stripping emphasis.
  • BORIS_BIN=/Users/tbuddy/dev/filed.fyi/bin/boris ./bin/validate_graph.sh — passed (graph diagnostics, verse residue check, HTML ID audit, filed certification, full Cantilever compile).
  • python3 scripts/check_collection_counts.py — PASS after the trunk recount.
  • Post-edit compiled inspection of dist/cantilever/mascots/M-0267.html (<em>Doge Stamp</em>, 52 <br> verse breaks, 0 stray asterisk literals, heading anchors intact) and M-0271.html (<strong>already innocent</strong>, 46 <br>, 0 stray asterisks). M-0268.html — the largest assigned record, deliberately unchanged — compiled clean with 74 <br> and its existing <strong>Appeal Feather</strong> intact.

Unresolved follow-up

  • None. No stat-block run-ons, missing hard breaks, or other defects were found in this assignment; nothing flagged needs decision.
