Presentation QA Mascots 029: Read-First Review of 8 Records

Maintenance ID: 0.1.00199.mascots-029 Date: 2026-10-08 Scope: content/mascots/ — the 8 records assigned by workload issue #756 (289.recital-of-sufficiency.md through 296.gown-of-recognition.md)

What changed

  • Read all 8 assigned records in full, frontmatter through final limerick line.
  • 289.recital-of-sufficiency.md line 16: bolded “not ideal” becomes “sufficient for present purposes.” — the record's definitional pivot, the moment tone replaces remediation. Asterisks only.
  • 291.witness-felt.md line 13: bolded padded, lined, translated, or atmospherically softened — the four-verb mechanism chain that defines the signature. Asterisks only.
  • 292.kind-overdraft.md line 13: bolded commit emotionally before they can commit structurally — the temporal inversion at the record's core. Asterisks only.
  • 294.proxy-lantern.md lines 35–37: split the biography's closing thesis (Where Proxy Lantern is present…) off the end of the preceding strange fatigue paragraph with a blank line — previously it compiled as a run-on tail of that paragraph — and bolded met by someone who cares and blocked by something that does not. Whitespace and asterisks only.
  • 295.sanctioned-quilt.md line 13: bolded only officially approved emotional distress — the jurisdictional turn that defines the mascot. Asterisks only.
  • 296.gown-of-recognition.md line 17: bolded perceived without requiring the compute to actually render it — visibility divorced from rendering, the record's pivot. Asterisks only.

What was deliberately left alone

  • All frontmatter, canonical IDs, tags, titles, heading anchors ({#…}), link targets, lists, tables, verse, and all pre-existing emphasis.
  • 290.hover-parish.md and 293.carpet-jurisdiction.md: reviewed unchanged. Both stub intros already carry label-style bold (**Failure Signature**, **Distinction**, **Function**) plus an italic in 293; adding a content pivot would exceed the one-pivot boundary.
  • 294.proxy-lantern.md lines 11–25 stat block (Role, Function, Emotional Tone, Slogan label lines with two-space hard breaks; Boundary Note, Biography, Operational Posture, Associated Mascots as standalone-paragraph labels): the documented stat-block convention used across 60+ mascot records, and this record's lines already carry the hard breaks needed to render correctly. Collection-level convention question already logged in 2026-10-08-mascots-001.
  • All verse: every interior haiku/limerick line in all 8 records carries its two-space hard break; only stanza-final lines omit it. No missing-hard-break residue found, nothing normalized. Verse hard breaks remain protected per #824.
  • Soft-wrap sentence pairs (289 L15–16, 291 L15–16, 292 L15–16, 293 L19–20, 295 L17–18): deliberate antiphonal pairs that compile as one paragraph without burying anything.
  • 295 line 15's plain Distinction: label and 296 line 14's stray trailing space: archival irregularity, preserved.
  • 289 frontmatter tag empathegy: residue or coinage, not a presentation matter; preserved.

Verification performed

  • Read-only scan of all 8 files enumerating verse lines lacking hard breaks and adjacent non-blank prose lines before any edit; findings classified before editing.
  • BORIS_BIN=/Users/tbuddy/dev/filed.fyi/bin/boris ./bin/validate_graph.sh — passed after the edits.
  • python3 scripts/check_collection_counts.py — PASS after count reconciliation.
  • Compiled-article inspection of dist/cantilever/mascots/ pages for the six changed records: confirmed <strong> renders on the intended pivots and 294's closing thesis now compiles as its own <p>.

Unresolved follow-up

  • None specific to this batch. The collection-level stat-block convention question from 2026-10-08-mascots-001 remains with the maintainer.
