Presentation QA Mascots 034: Read-First Review of 5 Records

Maintenance ID: 0.1.00204.mascots-034 Date: 2026-10-08 Scope: content/mascots/ — the 5 records assigned by workload issue #761 (321.ribbon-clause.md, 322.unchartable-ida.md, 323.caveat-snowglobe.md, 324.complimentary-ghostline.md, 325.peppy-clerk.md)

What changed

  • Read all five assigned records in full, frontmatter through final line, including aphorism, haiku, and limerick residue sections.
  • 322.unchartable-ida.md line 78: bolded "keeps measurement from declaring itself the world" — the Archive Note's closing pivot (margin note restraining measurement from claiming the whole perimeter). Asterisks only.
  • 323.caveat-snowglobe.md line 78: bolded "easy to leave on the table" — the closing turn where preserved warnings become inert decor. Asterisks only.
  • 324.complimentary-ghostline.md line 107: bolded "never rewrite the paragraph that claimed it still existed" — the Notes section's closing pivot (a service kept "alive" by not editing its paragraph). Asterisks only.
  • 325.peppy-clerk.md line 31: bolded "a badge, a stool, and a place to keep standing" — the definitional pivot: contradiction is not resolved, it is accommodated. Asterisks only.

What was deliberately left alone

  • 321.ribbon-clause.md — reviewed unchanged. Its pivot line ("The knot is purely aesthetic. The obligation is real.") is already an isolated paragraph doing its own visual work, and the record already carries a **Distinction:** label plus italicized entity name; additional emphasis would double-mark rather than clarify.
  • All frontmatter, canonical IDs, tags, titles, anchors ({#...}), link targets, quoted material, lists, headings, and every existing emphasis marker, including the **Reference:**/**Lorelog:**/etc. list labels in 324.
  • 324.complimentary-ghostline.md lines 11–13 opening stat block: three consecutive single-line sentences without hard breaks compile as one run-on <p>. Same no-break stat-block convention found across the mascot collection — a collection-level convention question, not a per-record fix (consistent with the mascots-001 disposition). Prose-region single trailing spaces on lines 13, 15–16, and elsewhere also left as harmless residue.
  • 325.peppy-clerk.md lines 275–351 (### Stub: Peppy Clerk limerick log): all 50 verse lines across 10 stanzas lack two-space hard breaks and compile as run-on paragraphs. Protected verse region — flagged needs decision in the PR rather than edited without a maintainer waiver; not covered by scripts/fix_verse_hard_breaks.py scope (limericks/, haikus/, ## Related Haikus/Limericks only).
  • 325's four named ## Haikus sub-logs (### Bin 8C Reindexing Annex, ### Peppy Clerk, ### Council Session MA8C-06 Presence, ### Mascot Affairs Self-Re-Indexing), the h3-under-h2 log structure shared with sibling records, and stanza-gap irregularities — all archival residue, preserved.
  • No verse hard breaks added, removed, or adjusted anywhere (see #824 scope decisions).

Verification performed

  • python3 whitespace audits of all five files: hard-break census per verse region; every break-missing line classified stanza-final (expected) vs. defect before any edit.
  • git diff programmatic check: all changed lines byte-identical modulo ** markers; zero trailing-whitespace alterations.
  • BORIS_BIN=/Users/tbuddy/dev/filed.fyi/bin/boris ./bin/validate_graph.sh — passed after the edits.
  • Compiled-article inspection of dist/cantilever/mascots/M-0322.html, M-0323.html, M-0324.html, M-0325.html post-build: each pivot renders <strong>; verse regions byte-identical to pre-edit output; M-0325 stub limericks confirmed run-on <p> (basis for the needs decision flag); M-0321 unchanged and intact.

Unresolved follow-up

  • The 325 stub-limerick run-on (and any sibling regions in the same condition) awaits maintainer waiver or a scoped extension of the verse hard-break convention to mascot ## Limerick Log regions. #761 should stay open until resolved or explicitly waived.
