Scope: content/mascots/274.deferment-bloom.md,
275.appendix-silk.md, 276.mandate-lace.md,
277.courtesy-threshold.md, 278.benevolence-spacer.md,

281.comfort-ledgerling.md, 282.gentility-siphon.md,
283.aftercare-vellum.md — ten tier-A records, the next stub/minimal/
spec-sheet band of the census. Issue #1040, RETROFIT SOUL slice-6.
The band contains the two remaining named cousins of M-0261's
retrofit (M-0275 Appendix Silk, M-0279 Annex Hush); their
characterizations were reconciled against the merged records before
authoring (see below).
What changed
Each record received interiority inserts under the slice-2/3/4/5
convention established on the fauna band and the three stub bands:
new prose placed around existing prose, never in place of it. No
sentence was deleted, reordered, or reworded; frontmatter, IDs,
headings, parent, relations, status, and all wikilink targets
are untouched. Two insert forms were used:
- Appended paragraphs at the ends of existing prose sections —
one per record on the stub and minimal-skeleton members, two on the
full spec-sheet records (M-0275, M-0283) per the M-0235/M-0231
spec-sheet precedent. Placement per record: end of the unheaded
definitional block on M-0274 and M-0281; between the Distinction
and the record's closing kicker couplet on M-0276, M-0277, and
M-0282 (so "The archive recognizes the softness. / Not the
exemption.", "The welcome remains audible. / The opening does
not.", and "The calm is real. / Its source is debatable." keep
their terminal position); end of
### Distinctionon M-0280; end of the unheadedOperational Posturefield on M-0278; end of## Boundary Noteon M-0279; ends of## Operational Postureand## Institutional Habitaton M-0275 and M-0283 (M-0283's bold Archive-Note thesis keeps its terminal position). ## Behavioral Residue— one new section per record, placed after the last prose block (after the Image alt-text on M-0274, M-0276, M-0277, M-0278, M-0280, M-0281, M-0282; after the Slogan field on M-0279; after## Recognizable Phraseson M-0275; after## Archive Noteon M-0283) and before the verse residue, holding rehearsed behavior, sensory trace, attributed utterance, observed incident, and counterpart relations. All ten records carry 5 bullets; none argued the sparseness that earned M-0258 its 4-bullet treatment.
Per-record being-grammars, per the manifest's injunction against boilerplate persons — no shared template was applied:
- M-0274 Deferment Bloom — horticulture mechanism: blooms only on dead dates, is perennial under replanting, times the bouquet to the forming objection, and multiplies under pruning; the watering is what the file uses to tell deferment from a Ghosted Milestone.
- M-0275 Appendix Silk — the annex family's dresser: cuts the cloth to a distance she does not choose, irons the seam where the material was cut, dresses only what will be seen at a distance, and has never been logged in the front matter. Works in relay downstream of Annexa (the exile) and Annex Hush (the walk); the handoff is 'not local' at both ends, echoing M-0261's merged residue.
- M-0276 Mandate Lace — garment-fidelity: it is the trim (the record already says removing the lace removes it), fitted to the order and never the reverse; frays ahead of repeal; has never been found on anything that asked permission; pastel matched to enforcement, not audience.
- M-0277 Courtesy Threshold — doorway-fidelity: furnishes a refusal made elsewhere, measures the pause in amenities rather than seconds, keeps 'no' outside its register, and lets the timeout arrive on schedule beneath the welcome.
- M-0278 Benevolence Spacer — interval-fidelity: inside the gap and never at either end, fluffs before it schedules, counts the interval in events rather than days, refreshes the poster while the decision keeps its paint, and has never been logged at the moment of arrival. Sidebar Mercy and Tender Escrow — already named and wikilinked in the record — bound its posting on either side.
- M-0279 Annex Hush — acoustic-escort fidelity: sets the volume at the back of the book, walks with the material rather than ahead of it, calibrates to the room it left, and quiets the diligent reader in turn; receives the far-bound from Footnote Pallbearer without exiling (Annexa's desk) or dressing (Silk's). Hers is the decibel.
- M-0280 Ribbon Latency — ceremony-instrument fidelity: certifies lateness it did not cause, has never cut a ribbon still waiting to be cut, measures the gap in invitations, and keeps the applause at the planned hour whatever the attendance.
- M-0281 Comfort Ledgerling — bookkeeping-fidelity: does not mint what it counts, enters every kindness at face value against columns never built to hold the cost, declines no entry, and files the red in a warmer face than the surplus ever got.
- M-0282 Gentility Siphon — fluid-mechanism fidelity: arranges the gradient rather than pumping, drains toward the minutes, works hardest where the grievance is most justified, and has never ended an exchange with an answer.
- M-0283 Aftercare Vellum — document-fidelity: composed after the decision, heavier than the harm it answers, never logged in the first contact, signing phrases that were available and unused during the incident; the watermark outlives the apology.
What was deliberately left alone
- All existing prose, including definitional lines, failure-signature clauses, distinction clauses, boundary notes, stat-block fields (Role/Function/Emotional Tone/Slogan/Operational Posture/Failure Modes/Archive Note), stat-block bullet lists, and the records' closing kicker couplets and theses — none rewritten or "improved."
- All verse residue (Aphorisms, Haiku Log, Limerick Log), including the JULES-POET digital-rain limerick groups, their irregular stanza gaps (five-blank gaps before the rain group on M-0274, M-0275, M-0276, M-0277, M-0278, M-0280, M-0281, M-0282 — verified at shifted positions; no irregular gaps on M-0279 or M-0283, where the limerick run is uniform three-blank — the distinction preserved, not normalized), their profanity (M-0274, M-0275, M-0276, M-0278, M-0280, M-0281 limericks), their missing-punctuation rain-group lines, and their two-space CommonMark hard-break tails — reproduced byte-identically. All tails in the band are exactly two spaces; the census pattern holds that every verse line is tailed except each verse section's final line and each file's last line. Noted but not fixed per convention: the unheaded stat-block field labels on M-0278 (lines 11/14/21/24), M-0279 (11/14/25/28), and M-0281 (11/14/17/20) carry the two-space tails that make them hard-break field headings — preserved.
- The stub and reservation declarations — "remains unwritten except for its main behavioral rule," "is reserved for," "is held for," "pending-render" — kept verbatim. Interiority was added as the record's own account of what it does while waiting to become, not as a resolution of the pending state.
- No new
relations:edges and no new wikilinks. Inserts re-name existing counterparts in prose only (Ghosted Milestone on M-0274; Formee Formeson on M-0276; the explicit Bouncer on M-0277; Sidebar Mercy and Tender Escrow on M-0278 — both already wikilinked in the record; Footnote Pallbearer, Annexa, and Appendix Silk on M-0279; Annexa and Annex Hush on M-0275; Time Dilation and the Apathy Engine on M-0280/M-0282 — all already present in the records' own prose; the annex-desk relay on M-0275/M-0279 consistent with the merged cousin records). - Jurisdiction and containment: no record in this band carries
bin-8c,consent-loop,breeding-program, or related flagged tags, and none was given such vocabulary. - Mechanism/abstract records were kept non-animal per the census rows: the Bloom is a growth on the schedule (buds, stems, pruning), the Lace is the trim itself (weave, fray, fit), the Threshold is a furnished doorway (chairs, pause, register), the Spacer is a furnished interval (fluffing, posters, touchpoints), the Hush is an acoustic escort (volume, greying font, decibel), the Scissors are a ceremonial instrument (blades, flash, the pre-existing tear), the Ledgerling is a bookkeeping entity (columns, face value, the red — only the ledger, pen, and neat hand its own aphorisms claim), the Siphon is a fluid mechanism (gradient, drain, pool), and the Vellum is a document (stock, gram-weight, watermark). Appendix Silk's cloth work is confined to cutting, measuring, and dressing — the embodiment her record and alt-text already claim. None is given limbs, meals, or moods it does not already claim.
Verification performed
- Structural intent: each staged file is the original byte stream plus inserts only — verified by line-count reconciliation, blank-line census at positions, trailing-whitespace census at positions, heading-skeleton checks, and sentinel greps (below). Caveat for the merge: the staging sandbox permitted only whole-file writes (exec/diff/shasum unavailable); originals were transcribed from byte-accurate reads and verified post-write, but the coordinator should merge by alignment and run a real diff at transcription, per the slice's standing instruction. The same transcription defect as slice-5's M-0264 recurred and was caught the same way: the first write of M-0274, M-0275, M-0276, and M-0277 dropped one blank from the five-blank rain gap; the blank-census position check flagged all four and the staged files were corrected and re-verified.
- Line-count reconciliation: every staged file's
wc -lequals its original plus its inserted lines exactly (274: 159→169; 275: 254→266; 276: 151→161; 277: 152→162; 278: 184→194; 279: 181→191; 280: 167→177; 281: 169→179; 282: 166→176; 283: 223→235). Total: 104 inserted lines, 0 deletions. - Trailing-whitespace census:
\s+$match counts identical between originals and staged files on every file (274:59, 275:84, 276:53, 277:56, 278:60, 279:60, 280:56, 281:63, 282:59, 283:59 — 609 total); all tails are exactly two spaces; tails confined to verse lines plus the twelve pre-existing stat-block field-label tails noted above; no inserted line carries a tail. Position check: every tailed line appears at its original position plus the uniform insert offset. - Blank-line census: every staged file's blank count equals its original +3 (one separator blank with the prose insert, two with the Behavioral Residue block) on the eight single-insert records, and +4 on the two double-insert spec-sheets (274: 73→76; 275: 105→109; 276: 66→69; 277: 68→71; 278: 79→82; 279: 86→89; 280: 79→82; 281: 77→80; 282: 77→80; 283: 97→101). Position-level comparison performed on all ten: every original blank appears at its insert-shifted position and nowhere else; rain gaps verified at five blanks on the eight flagged records.
## Behavioral Residueappears exactly once per file, immediately before## Aphorisms, in all ten staged records.[[-link inventory unchanged: 4 total across the band (M-0275 ×1 limerick, M-0276 ×1 limerick, M-0278 ×2 limerick), all pre-existing; zero added.- Heading skeletons verified identical to originals save the single new section.
- Sentinel greps: all kicker couplets, distinction clauses,
definitional sentences, stat-block field labels and bullets,
bold/italic markers (
**Time Dilation**,**Apathy Engine**,**Cure is not on file**, the M-0283 bold thesis), em-dashes, and profanity present verbatim at their insert-shifted positions; curly-vs-straight apostrophe and quote usage preserved per line (curly-mark lines verified 24/24 present at shifted positions — M-0274 ×2, M-0275 ×2, M-0276 ×3, M-0277 ×2, M-0278 ×2 incl. the “updates soon” curly-pair, M-0279 ×2, M-0280 ×5, M-0282 ×3, M-0283 ×3; zero curly marks in inserted lines); frontmatter id/status/parent/tags lines grepped clean on all ten. - EOF newline: staged files end with the untailed final verse line as filed; the write tool does not append a terminal newline, so the trailing newline was included in the staged content — coordinator's diff should confirm the byte.
BORIS_BIN=~/.local/bin/boris ./bin/validate_graph.sh— run by coordinator on transcription; exact result line in the PR body.
Unresolved follow-up
- The stub tail continues past this band: M-0284–M-0297 (Consent Murmur, Pamphlet Quietus, Favorable Beige, Revival Pocket, Deferential Spark, Recital of Sufficiency, Hover Parish, Carpet Jurisdiction) plus the minimal-skeleton and fauna neighbors M-0289, M-0291, M-0292, M-0293, M-0295–M-0297 carry the same diagnosis and are the natural slice-7. Two flagged jurisdictions sit inside that band: M-0284 Consent Murmur (consent-adjacent tag field — preserve jurisdiction) and M-0290 Hover Parish (parish-named, religion-adjacent, already on the §7 priority list at #7 — the highest-priority remaining record in the tail).
- The 'complete testimony' intake-citation phrasing now appears on all ten records of this slice as well, continuing the slice-2/3/4/5 pattern the merged changelogs already flagged as a maintainer-facing style question; left uniform pending that ruling. Two records (M-0278, M-0279) answer with their own slogans verbatim ('relief remained one step behind the tone.' / 'filed clearly. heard selectively.') — deliberate, but noted for the style ruling.
- The cousin grammars for M-0275 and M-0279 are now asserted in residue bullets on both records and reconcile the three named characterizations in merged M-0261 (Hush collects the far-bound, Silk dresses the distant-seen, Sorrowmark takes what still hurts) with M-0235's relay (Annexa moves; Silk wraps; Hush quiets the approach) and M-0239's desk map (Lurker holds the channel). Silk dresses — tailoring for the reader who might come; Hush walks and hushes — the escort and the decibel, not the destination, the grief, or the cloth. If a later pass formalizes annex-desk relations, these bullets plus M-0261's handoff bullet and M-0235's residue are the evidence trail, not a graph change; the twin assertions should stay in lockstep if either is revised.
- M-0278's insert names Sidebar Mercy and Tender Escrow in plain prose; both are already wikilinked in the record's Boundary Note and the claims made about them (jumps ahead / holds the remedy still) match that note's own verbs. If their records are retrofitted later (M-0260 Sidebar Mercy is tier-B; M-0298 Tender Escrow is tier-B), the boundary assertions should stay consistent.
- M-0280's residue asserts the celebration timestamp as "the only one that never moves." If a later pass writes timekeeping canon for the ceremony records, this bullet is the claim to keep consistent.
