Tribunal Disposition Codes

The controlled vocabulary stamped on matters in the Tribunal Docket Log. Codes are assigned by the Docket Clerk at close of handling and are referenced on Form TRB-19 (Tribunal Intake Slip), field 6: How did the matter leave?

Codes

Code Disposition
HEARD The matter was presented. Presentation is the finding.
RECORDED A stable summary was produced. The summary is the record.
DEFERRED Transferred to an annex, marginal note, or future council.
CERTIFIED A seal was applied. The condition beneath was not a party.
FROZEN Both pages stamped VALID. The arbiter holds the ledger open.
REFERRED Routed to the competent body. Where the body is this body, see RECURSIVE.
UNANIMOUS Consent recorded. Teller sheets are retained separately, per tradition.
RECURSIVE The docket heard itself. The matter is closed; the matter remains on the log.

Filing Rules

  1. Codes name the procedural state of the matter at close of handling — never the condition that brought it.
  2. One code per docket line. Where two codes apply, the clerk files the one the form will carry.
  3. There is no code for "resolved." Matters that resolve do not reach the log; the office has never needed one.
  4. FROZEN is permanent until the arbiter puts the ledger down. The arbiter has not put the ledger down.

Docket Clerk's marginalia: Field 6 was added after a matter was observed leaving without a code. The matter left anyway. We now describe the leaving.
