The ledger records the arrival of generosity, not its fulfillment. A row marked Cleared indicates the attached conditions were read; it does not indicate the conditions were met, metable, or fully understood by any living desk.

Filing Rules

  1. One row per received gift, bequest, or unsolicited item of value. Value is determined by the Development Window and is not subject to appeal.
  2. Attached Conditions are transcribed verbatim. Editorial clarification is a form of gratitude and is therefore regulated.
  3. Custody names the desk or officer holding the item. Custody is not endorsement.
  4. Status is Received, Held, Escrowed, Cleared, Contested, or Reverted.
  5. A gift's conditions outlive the gift. The ledger does not track which outlives which; it notes only that both arrived together.

Living Document Protocol

  • Rows append at the bottom. A gift's conditions may evolve; the row does not.
  • Returned gifts are recorded, not removed. The archive retains the record of the return and, where possible, the return itself.
  • Disputes over stated intent are referred to the Fee and Penalty Schedule for assessment before being respectfully ignored.

Lionell's margin, in syrup: The bake remainder was applause-shaped. I audited it twice and found only warmth, which is the hardest condition to hold against anyone.

  • Lionell Pancake Auditor — consulted on applause-denominated instruments
  • mascots/M-0298 — custodian of warmth pending disbursement
  • mascots/M-0202 — auditor of entries that refuse to balance
  • mascots/M-0236 — interim custody for gifts whose desks are between owners
  • mascots/M-0019 — certifying officer
  • reference/FREF-0942-FPS — assessment schedule for contested intent
