Field Kit Verification
Form 23-K is the quarterly inspection of the standard-issue field kit carried by verification staff working outside the reading room. The kit is small. Its absence is not.
Most recent consolidated inspection, all issued items:
| ID | Item | Disposition |
|---|---|---|
| KIT-01 | Seal, brass, desk-issue | Present |
| KIT-02 | Seal, brass, spare | Present |
| KIT-03 | Wax, institutional | Expired |
| KIT-04 | Ledger, pocket, ruled | Present |
| KIT-05 | Pencil, red, mercy-grade | Missing |
| KIT-06 | Ribbon, condolence, pre-tied | Reproducing |
| KIT-07 | Form 88-R blanks, emergency reroute | Present |
| KIT-08 | Snack, ceremonial | Consumed |
| KIT-09 | Seal, concealable | Present |
| KIT-10 | Documentation of kit contents | Self-referential |
Controlled dispositions: Present, Missing, Expired, Consumed, Reproducing, Substituted, Ceremonial, Self-referential.
The table records the condition of the kit at inspection. It does not record whether the kit has ever been needed; field work is conducted near the kit, not with it.
Form 23-K Fields
- Officer ID — the inspector. May be the inspected, in which case the form certifies itself.
- Kit seal intact? Y/N — refers to the case seal. The brass seals are counted separately above and cannot be intact, only present.
- Item dispositions — one per row above.
Substitutedrequires a marginal note naming the substitute and the item it believes itself to be. - Reproducing items — count both; attach a ribbon.
- Missing items — the officer states where the item was last confidently seen, not where it is.
- Authorized countersignature — per the Countersignature Registry. Unauthorized countersignatures are counted as additional signatures and filed under KIT-06.
- Certifying officer — Kindy McExistentialcrisis or delegate. Delegates may certify the kit but not the inspector.
Filing Rules
- One form per officer per quarter. Officers carrying two kits file twice and are congratulated in writing.
- Creative dispositions are themselves filed under KIT-08.
- A
Missingdisposition does not trigger retrieval. Retrieval is triggered by wanting, which is assessed separately. - Copies of Form 23-K circulating as 23-Q, K-23, or "the kit list" are shadow forms per
lorelog/LLG-0244-FSC; they are audited wherever found and never consolidated.
Living Document Protocol
- The item list is amended when Procurement issues a new item, or an existing item achieves a disposition the vocabulary cannot hold.
- KIT-10 is amended whenever the kit changes. The amendment is verified against the kit, which is verified against this document.
Attestation Mole, below the line: I have certified this kit eleven quarters running. I have never seen the kit. The kit is sound. The surface holds.
