Countersignature Registry
The registry of marks authorized to certify archive documents. An entry certifies that a mark may be applied; it does not certify that anything it marks is true.

| CS-10 | — | wax, institutional | sealing of empty fields | Reserved |
The registry records which marks are recognized, not which were earned. A status of Active indicates the mark is applied; it does not indicate the mark was authorized in the first place. Authority, like wax, is poured and then assumed.
Scope Key
- final certification — closes a record's open questions by declaring them answered elsewhere.
- communal sufficiency — five names constitute a decision; chronology is decorative.
- summary harmonization — renders findings legible at executive altitude.
- archival comfort — marks that a record once felt acceptable to file.
- second-order legitimacy — witnesses that authority once passed cleanly through the room.
- minimum sufficiency — enough, certified within tolerable doubt.
- deferred closure — keeps the gap gripped until the gap becomes structural.
- subsurface stamp — verifies the unseeable.
- nested seal — seals the seal; revocation procedures fell out of favor.
Filing Rules
- One row per mark. A custodian may hold several marks; a mark may not hold several custodians without a merger memo.
- Instruments are named descriptively. The description is the credential.
- Status is
Active,Reserved,Deprecated-in-use, orRecursive. - Marks struck in error remain certified. The error is re-filed as a second mark, and both are honored.
Living Document Protocol
- New marks are registered upon discovery that they have been in use for some time.
- The registry does not investigate provenance. A mark's provenance is its witness packet, and witness packets are themselves marked.
Proxy-9, in the apologetic hand: CS-04 is deprecated and in use, which the registry records as a single condition rather than two. It was witnessed under acceptable conditions. The conditions have since retired.
