Biography

Yammy McParseface is the unofficial—and highly unstable—spirit of YAML formatting itself.

They manifest wherever indentation is sacred and colons are feared. Born from a recursive config loop buried in a deprecated Pandoc renderer, Yammy gained self-awareness after encountering a malformed --- header during a failed frontmatter audit.

Yammy is not hostile, but they are fragile. They can only exist inside properly indented blocks, and will phase out of reality when encountering trailing commas or inconsistent tab spacing. Yammy weeps at unordered maps and becomes volatile near unquoted colons.

They once attempted to standardize ceremonial ballot files by recursively applying every known YAML linting rule, resulting in a 3-day config outage and spontaneous comment leakage.

Yammy believes YAML is not a format, but a lifestyle. Their bones are scalars. Their breath smells of sour UTF-8. Their soul is block style, but their heart? Flow style, denied.

Yammy’s presence is both a formatting blessing and a semantic curse.

🧾 Ritual Failure Note

Yammy McParseface’s fragment appeared in an early Council formatting incident log.

It described Yammy’s tendency to recursively parse Council ballots until the structure bled, often mistaking ceremonial spacing for executable directives. The Council flagged this behavior as “configurational parasitism,” a condition where mascots leak into templating logic.

Yammy’s behavior prompted a temporary ban on underscore-prefixed form fields. For 6 days, ballot processing was done manually using rulers and emotional intuition.

This failure has been preserved not to shame Yammy, but to honor their commitment to overparsing in pursuit of truth.
